More people continue to buy jerseys ahead of the Kabaka’s Birthday Run

More people continue to buy jerseys ahead of the Kabaka’s Birthday Run

The Buganda Minister of Sports, Youths and Leisure Hon. Kibembe Kiberu led the Marketing Team to make more sales of the Kabaka’s Birthday Run kits which started at Voice of Africa radio. The Minister encouraged people to participate in this forthcoming Kabaka’s Run and spread the awareness campaign of preventing and fighting the sickle cell disease. He said “I call upon all the people of Buganda not only to participate in the run but also render efforts in preventing and fighting the disease.”

The General Secretary of the Union of Muslim Council of East, Central, and Southern Africa Harunah Rashid Kasangaki thanked the Kabaka of Buganda for having empathy for his people. He said "God gave us the Kabaka as a gift because he loves his people and not only the people of Buganda but all people generally."

The marketing team’s next destination was Lubiri High School Buloba campus. Here, the Deputy Head Teacher of the school, David Namugera, who confirmed their full participation in the Kabaka’s Birthday Run urged parents to join them in the fight against sickle cells. He said “I take this opportunity to ask the citizens of Nabukalu who host the school, our dear parents, and all neighbouring schools to respond to the Kabaka’s call to participate in the run for the health of the people of Buganda.”

Buganda Land Board also bought kits ahead of the Kabaka’s Birthday Run and its Chairman David Kiwalabi Male encouraged people to participate in this run. He said “we have mobilized and bought more than 100 tickets and we have more than 100 participants who will represent us in the run. We also want to call upon all other people to join because we would like this year’s run to have more numbers than the previous year because we strive to see that each year Buganda is growing.”

The Head of Marketing at BBS Terefayina, Alice Namatovu thanked all organizations that have supported the Kabaka’s Birthday Run through buying jerseys and also asked other people to join the fight against sickle cells saying “we have much pleasure as BBS Terefayina together with Majestic Brands and Buganda Land Board for partnering with other schools in buying the kits for the Kabaka’s Birthday Run.”

On the same note, people from Bulemezi led by Sam Serunjogi bought kits they will use in the Kabaka’s Run. On arrival in Bulemezi, people hurried to secure for themselves jerseys before the stock ran out. The locals were pleased for the provision of jerseys which will enable them to participate in the Kabaka’s Birthday Run that they had never gotten a chance to be part of. Serunjogi stated “whoever will need to buy these kits, they will be available for sale at Serunjogi Sam Investments in Wobulenzi on Nkangula building, at Bombo Post Office, and Ndejje for easy access. This time around we are the ones hosting the Kabaka’s Birthday Run.  Therefore, I trust that you cannot disappoint us.”

Athieno Moses, the owner of the Kalilo Early Childhood Teachers' College was among the first persons to buy several kits, up to 30 kits for students at his college so that they can also participate in the Kabaka’s Birthday Run. All the locals are keenly awaiting for the D-day to have the ceremony held in their locality in Bulemezi.
