The Katikkiro launches the runners' routes
Kampala – The official route map for the 70th Kabaka Birthday Run has been launched. The Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, unveiled the map, which outlines the 21km, 10km, and 5km routes as planned in collaboration with city authorities and the national police.
During the launch, KCCA Executive Director, Ms. Sharifah Buzeki, urged the Katikkiro to support her campaign to keep Kampala clean. She assured him that KCCA will work closely with Buganda Kingdom to achieve the vision set by Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi II—improving public health and protecting young girls from HIV/AIDS.
Buganda & KCCA join forces for a cleaner city
Owek. Mayiga assured KCCA's Executive Director of the kingdom’s full support in her initiatives and emphasized that cleanliness should be a personal responsibility for all citizens.
"Keeping the city clean is not just the government's responsibility; every individual must contribute. A clean Kampala benefits all of Buganda," the Katikkiro stated.
Owek. Kamalabyonna further highlighted that Kabaka’s birthday celebrations focus on health and well-being, adding that by 2030, HIV/AIDS should no longer be a public health threat. He encouraged men to take responsibility by getting tested and preventing the spread of HIV.
