The Minister of Welfare and Environment led a tree-planting campaign at the Mengo Palace.

Hon. Hajjat Mariam Mayanja Nkalubo spearheaded the planting of a Breadfruit tree in the palace grounds of His Majesty the Kabaka at Mengo, donated by the Tri Trees organisation.

Hon. Mariam Mayanja explained that this tree is beneficial for its fruits and can be used to produce flour for food consumed by both humans and animals, as well as for making bread and other products.

Prince Rev. Dan Kajjumba, leading the Tri Trees team, spoke about their journey of planting these trees in Uganda, starting in schools. He mentioned that the trees are intended to help improve the food supply for students in schools.

These trees are imported from the Caribbean and are primarily planted in countries like Malaysia and Croatia.
