The Katikkiro with the Uganda Alcoholic industry association members
The Katikkiro met with members of the Alcohol Industry Association and warned against excessive alcohol consumption.
He emphasised that alcohol holds significant importance in Buganda tradition but cautioned that excessive consumption can be dangerous. Katikkiro urged alcohol drinkers to consume responsibly.
During a meeting with leaders of the Uganda Alcoholic Industry Association, which represents various alcohol companies and is led by Ms. Jackie Tahakanizibwa Kwesiga at Bulange, Katikkiro stated that a responsible individual should enjoy alcohol in moderation during joyful gatherings with friends.
They seek acknowledgment from the kingdom and propose establishing a collaborative effort to address the risks associated with alcohol abuse.

The Katikkiro condemned polyethylene liquor as hazardous due to its lack of regulation and licensing, urging people to refrain from consuming it.
He also cautioned that excessive alcohol consumption contributes to the spread of AIDS, as it often leads to risky sexual behaviour.
Jackie Tahakanizibwa urged the kingdom to grant them a voice in shaping alcohol laws, which she said oppresses beverage producers.
The meeting was attended by Oweek Hajji Amis Kakomo, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, and Oweek Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Spokesperson of the Kingdom, along with other officials.
