The Kingdom of Buganda celebrated Princess Elizabeth Akiiki Bagaaya of Tooro, giving thanks for her God-given life with a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Namirembe.
Princess Bagaaya grew up in the palace in Mengo during the reign of King Muteesa II. Her mother, Abwoli Kezia, maintained a close friendship with Queen Damalie Kisosonkole, illustrating the strong bond between the Kingdoms of Buganda and Tooro.

She is best remembered for elevating Uganda's global presence as the first Ugandan woman to graduate in law from Cambridge University. Additionally, she served as Uganda's Ambassador to America and made notable appearances in historical films such as 'Sheena: Queen of the Jungle.
Queen Sylvia Nagginda, princes, princesses, the Speaker of the Buganda Parliament Oweek Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule representing the Katikkiro, and the Kabaka's Ministers attended the celebration of the princess at Serena Hotel.
At first, there was a prayer service held at St. Paul's Cathedral Namirembe Church, led by Bp. Moses Banja, the Bishop of Namirembe, and Bp. Reuben Kisembo, the Bishop of Rwenzori.
