In a mission to boost agriculture in Buganda Kingdom, Katikkiro Mayiga visited the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) to observe their research and encourage people to adapt to working in confined spaces.
The Katikkiro emphasised the need to transition from the traditional practice of acquiring vast land for farming and livestock keeping.
He stressed that in this generation, we must maximise the use of limited space.
Additionally, Katikkiro visited several government institutes to acquire knowledge on promoting agriculture.
Notably, he explored the National Coffee Research Institute in Kituuza Mukono (NACORI), Mukono, and the Mukono Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MUZARDI). At MUZARDI, they demonstrated poultry and fish farming along with other plants, imparting knowledge on small-space farming.
Furthermore, visits were made to the National Livestock Research Institute in Namulonge and the National Agricultural Laboratories in Kawanda.
