The Minister of Culture and Traditions, Dr. Anthony Wamala, arrived at the swearing-in ceremony for the new leadership of the Ngabi Nnyunga Clan, held at Byandala Plaza in Katwe, where the clan's offices are located.
The minister, accompanied by the Speaker of the Council of Clan Elders, Omutaka Nnamwama Augustine Kizito Mutumba, was warmly welcomed by the Clan Head of the Ngabi Clan, Omutaka Kannyana Daniel Kiwana.
In his remarks, Minister Wamala stressed the need to revive respect for cultural traditions, noting that many people disregard or misunderstand their significance.
He explained that when people hear the word "culture," they often associate it with witchcraft or satanic practices, which is a misconception.
He clarified that culture represents the behaviours and practices that differentiate one nation from another, including language, food customs (both edible and prohibited foods), and naming traditions.

He highlighted how the Baganda culture, for example, includes unique foods and names that are distinct from those of other groups.
These comments were made during the ceremony, held in Makindye Division III, Kyaddondo, marking the renewal of leadership within the Ngabi Nnyunga Clan.
