The Katikkiro was standing on the right with the Muteesa I University Board of Governors
They were led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Gorret Nakabugo, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vincent Kakembo, and the heads of various departments at the University.
Presenting the struggle for a charter, Dr. Gorret Nakabugo, Chairman of the University’s Board of Governors, stated that one of the first decisions they made upon assuming office was to initiate the process of obtaining a charter. While the National Council for Higher Education made numerous requests, the primary concern revolved around funding. Dr. Nakabugo expressed gratitude to the Buganda Treasury for its financial assistance.
She emphasised that since obtaining the charter, they are going to intensify their research efforts with the support of expert teachers holding doctorates and PhDs. Muteesa University aims to engage with communities to provide education in agriculture, science, technology, and innovation.
Prof. Vincent Kakembo, the Vice-Chancellor of Muteesa I Royal University, highlighted the benefits of obtaining a charter, including access to international standard courses, partnership opportunities, and support for students to pursue further studies at the master's and PhD levels. He also mentioned government loans available to aid students in completing their studies.
The Minister of Education and Social Development, Hon. Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko, affirmed her ministry's commitment to ensuring quality education reaches the people of the Kingdom. She pledged to provide leaders, teachers, and students of the University with the necessary support to fulfil their responsibilities.

In his speech, Katikkiro encouraged students from Muteesa I Royal University to be enthusiastic, creative, and passionate about their work. He urged the university authorities to strive to ensure that the University establishes a reputation for excellence, with a particular emphasis on prioritising agriculture.
He emphasised the importance of having experts in agriculture, health, and other locally recognized subjects, as well as tourism. These experts, drawn from Muteesa and beyond, will not only teach within the university but also extend their knowledge to others in the community.
Additionally, he emphasised the value of students displaying politeness and respect.
