The Kisekwa court delivering its judgment

The Kisekwa Court has delivered a ruling on a longstanding dispute within the Enseenene lineage regarding the leadership of the Kajubi clan.

In this case, the plaintiffs challenged the right of Marko Kironde’s descendants to lead the Kajubi clan in Bujubi and serve as prime ministers (Bakatikkiro) of the Enseenene lineage. They argued that the Kironde family originates from Kalamba in Butambala, not the rightful ancestral line.

On the other hand, the Kironde descendants insisted that leadership of the Kajubi clan should remain with them, as they trace their roots to Ipolito Lule Jjolyabalamu, maintaining that the rightful heir to the title of Kajubi is Mulindwa Paul Kironde Katimpa.

The Kisekwa Court, after reviewing arguments from both sides, issued its ruling, providing key directives to resolve the matter:
Key rulings by Kisekwa court

  1. Clan Elders to Mediate Internal Disputes
The court directed the caretakers of Omutaka Kalibbala, led by Adnan Nsozi and other clan heads, to assist in resolving the internal leadership disputes. This process should be guided by the Sabataka's decision on the matter.
  2. Case to Be Referred Back to the Clan Court
The court ruled that the case should be reviewed further by the Clan Court to reach a binding decision. Either party, dissatisfied with the ruling, may escalate the matter to the Prime Minister's council (Ddiiro lya Katikkiro) for final resolution.
  3. Leadership Disputes Must Be Heard by the Kasolya Court
The court emphasized that disputes over the leadership of the Kajubi clan fall under the jurisdiction of the Kasolya Court, which handles such critical clan matters.
  4. The Prime Minister Cannot Oversee the Case
The court warned that since the Prime Minister (Katikkiro) is both a party to the dispute and head of the Kajubi clan, he must not participate in adjudicating this matter, even in the Clan Court.

This ruling was read by Justice George Makumbi and endorsed by the following officials:

  • Omuk. Joshua Kateregga (Kisekwa)
  • Omuk. Lubega Ssebende
  • Omuk. Samuel Walusimbi
  • Omuk. George Makumbi
