Katikkiro speaking to the media
Buddu native and Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, has pledged his unwavering support to propel Buddu to victory over Kyaggwe in the upcoming Masaza Cup final at Namboole Stadium this Saturday.
In Buganda, our dedication never wavers. The duties of the Kabaka continue in every circumstance, and even during my absence, alongside my First Deputy, activities have remained uninterrupted.
I extend my gratitude to Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, the Second Deputy of Katikkiro, for his steadfast commitment and the remarkable work he has accomplished during this period, as well as to all the Ministers and staff.
The Katikkiro made these remarks during a press briefing at Bulange, attended by Kyaggwe’s leaders, including Second Deputy Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, Owek. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, and Hon. Nantege Josephine.
The Katikkiro expressed his gratitude to his second deputy during a press conference
He highlighted that everyone crossing from Lwera intends to bring back various items to Buddu, including provincial trophies.
The Katikkiro called upon everyone from the sub-counties where he was born—Ssaabawaali, Bukoto, Kyanamukaaka, Kkingo, Katwe Butego, and Bukulula—to gather at Namboole and witness today’s declarations.
He urged Kyaddondo and Buweekula supporters to rally behind their counties as they compete for the third-place title.
The Katikkiro further encouraged fans to travel safely, avoid drunk driving, refrain from sitting on the tops of vehicles, and embrace celebration with Kabaka-approved traditions like drumming, dancing, vuvuzelas, and cheering, while avoiding unruly behaviour.
Hon. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa and Hon. Isreal Kitooke, the Information Minister
On behalf of the people of Kyaggwe, Hon. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa stated that it is difficult to defeat Kyaggwe because of the names of the villages there, including Namakomo, Ndwaddemutwe, Nywedde Malwa, and Nekooyedde.
He added that with their determination to win, they will swiftly take the cup from Buddu for themselves
He also announced a partnership with Uganda Railway to provide free transport for every Kyaggwe resident with a match ticket.
The final match will take place this Saturday, November 2, at Namboole Stadium.
