Katikkiro poses with board members of the Buganda Land Board during his official visit
In his ongoing initiative to visit various departments under the Kingdom of Buganda, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga paid a visit to the Buganda Land Board, the institution responsible for land matters within the kingdom, headquartered at the Masengere building.
Katikkiro began his visit by meeting with the board members and senior management, followed by a gathering with all staff to provide guidance and motivation. He was accompanied on this tour by CEO Simon Kaboggoza.
During his address, he encouraged all citizens to register their land to avoid the risk of eviction. He also advised tenants to obtain official land leases and fulfil their payment obligations to establish strong, positive relationships with landowners.
Katikkiro Mayiga commended the Buganda Land Board on reaching its 30-year milestone since inception and urged staff to approach their duties with innovation, dedication, integrity, and passion.

His message emphasised the kingdom’s third key principle: the protection of Buganda’s land and boundaries. He explained that land holds significant cultural value in Buganda’s traditions, as clan lands serve as the foundation for preserving clan lineages. Therefore, the role of the Buganda Land Board is highly crucial.
To ensure quality service delivery, the Katikkiro called on regional offices to treat clients with respect and professionalism, promptly addressing their concerns. He noted that establishing these regional offices was intended to help resolve issues locally without requiring people to travel to Masengere.
Furthermore, he advised staff to foster cooperation with other kingdom institutions, uphold the kingdom’s values, avoid behaviours unbecoming of kingdom representatives, and work as a team, as every individual’s contribution is vital.
