The Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, officially opened the Pookino-Buddukiro house in Masaka, Buddu district.

Constructed in 1936, it faced challenges after the 1966 attack on the palace, leading to its seizure by the military and government agencies, ultimately resulting in the banning of the Buganda Kingdom.

In 2019, former Masaka Mayor Joseph Kalungi handed over the house to the kingdom. Due to its condition, utilizing it as the county headquarters was challenging. Pookino initiated a donation-based approach to raise funds to restore Buddukiro to its former glory.

Through a donation-based approach used by different Buddu residents and various individuals, they raised funds amounting to more than 230 million Ugandan shillings, which has been used for its renovation.
