The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, urges Buganda clans to prioritise youth in leadership roles to identify and build responsible leaders.

The youth leadership council of the Omutima Omuyanja clan, under the guidance of Ssalongo Kiwutta Robert Ssenkasi Kakeeto, presented self-development plans at a meeting held at the Butikkiro in Mengo, the official residence of the Katikkiro.

Ssalongo Kiwutta Robert Ssenkasi Kakeeto, serving as the youth chairman of the Omutima Omuyanja clan and leading the meeting, highlighted some of the issues brought to the Katikkiro:

Presenting themselves as the youth leaders of the clan to which the Katikkiro belongs, acknowledging his 10-year tenure, and working to bridge the gap between Buganda Clans' youth and the Kabaka's Government.

In his address, the Katikkiro conveyed that the youth deserve active involvement in clan programs during their younger years. He advised them to participate in meetings of lineages, clans, and tribes, encouraging engagement in learning and creativity while avoiding comfort and self-pity.

The Katikkiro also urged the youth in Buganda to approach their responsibilities with integrity.

Expressing gratitude for their commitment to serving the clan, he further encouraged them to invest in constructing a clan building on Mutundwe land as descendants of Namugera Kakeeto.
