The Chief Minister was launching the jersey shirts for the marathon with the Organizing Committee
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter, has inaugurated the Committee responsible for organising the 69th Birthday Run in honour of Ssaabasajja Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. Additionally, another committee has been established to coordinate the celebrations for the King's Birthday.
A call was made to the Kabaka's people to utilise all available means to prevent the spread of AIDS. The 7th April 2024 King's Birthday Run is scheduled to take place at the Royal Palace in Mengo and across all provinces in Buganda, as well as internationally and outside Uganda. The King has given approval for the marathon to be conducted with a focus on the theme of combating AIDS. The race will be run under the theme 'Men should lead in the fight against AIDS, saving the Girl child.' The King’s Birthday Celebration will be held on 13.4.2024 at the Mengo Palace.During the program launch, the Katikkiro reiterated his call for men to take responsibility for girls, emphasizing the importance of avoiding involvement in sexual activities. He urged everyone to remain vigilant and protect themselves from AIDS to contribute to the realization of the kingdom's vision of elevating Buganda to the top. Achieving this vision necessitates the well-being and health of the people. The marathon kit will be available at a cost of UGX 20,000
