Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the National Commission for UNESCO serving the country

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the National Commission for UNESCO serving the country

The Government of Uganda has applauded the Kingdom for its remarkable effort in restoring the Kasubi Tombs and removing them from the list of endangered tourist attractions.

The president was represented at the National Commission for UNESCO's 60th Anniversary Celebration by the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadaama.

According to the President, tourist attractions contribute significantly to the country's income and must therefore be preserved. The celebrations were held at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Hon Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, Minister of Information, Publicity, and Spokesperson for the Kingdom, represented the Kingdom.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recently decided to remove the Kasubi Tombs from its list of endangered monuments, citing the Kingdom's efforts to rebuild the tombs after they were demolished in 2010.
