The Minister for Welfare, Environment, and Gender, Hon. Hajjat Mariam Mayanja Nkalubo, has launched preparations for the 2024 Buganda Women's Conference, which will take place on May 15, 2024, at Mengo Palace.

Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda will inaugurate this conference, which will be attended by women from all the provinces of the Buganda kingdom.

This year's conference will focus on various topics including accessing government finances (grants) for women, education on taxation and insurance policies, raising a boy child, managing family income, and various other pertinent issues.

Oweek Nkalubo has announced that health professionals, financial experts, legal professionals, insurers, and other specialists will attend this conference due to the critical topics to be discussed. As a result, conference tickets will be priced at forty thousand shillings (40,000 shs).

"This time, we aim to highlight the value of this conference, ensuring that attendees come with the expectation of learning something valuable."

The Minister has also extended invitations to allies, including women's organisations and other stakeholders, to participate in the preparations for the conference.

The conference chairman, Dr. Sarah Nkonge Muwonge, has encouraged women to purchase conference tickets and actively participate in this year's event. She emphasised the importance of learning and self-improvement, as well as understanding how culture can be used to advance women's rights.

The meeting took place at Bulange in Mengo and was attended by various officials, including Oweek Robina Magezi, Omukungu Agnes Nabulya Nkugwa, Omukungu Agnes Kimbugwe, as well as women leaders from the counties.
