The Kingdom of Buganda completed the construction of the borehole well in Buweekula, granting local residents access to clean water.

The well, dug in collaboration with Wells of Life and BUCADEF, is located at Christ the King Primary School in Musaale Kiyuni Sub-county and will serve residents of neighbouring villages.

This marks the 857th well constructed under this initiative since its inception.

While commissioning the well, the Buganda Minister of Local Government, Kabaka’s Visits, and Foreign Affairs, Oweek Joseph Kawuki, emphasised that this initiative represents one of the ways communities can embrace self-help to tackle local challenges through the spirit of volunteerism and cooperation.

The funds for this well were donated by Buganda’s diaspora community in the New England region (Massachusetts, Boston, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Vermont).

The New England county is currently led by Oweek Henry Ndawula, and their efforts extend beyond just providing water, as they have also contributed to other community projects and to the giving of oluwalo.
