The Katikkiro at Entebbe airport just before he departed for Zimbabwe.
Buganda's Katikkiro heads to Zimbabwe to participate in the international conference organized by the United Nations organisation that fights against AIDS called UNAIDS.
At the UNAIDS conference, The Katikkiro is to highlight the crucial role of traditional leaders in AIDS prevention. He will also showcase the King's impactful advocacy, encouraging self-checks for men and promoting youth abstinence. These initiatives significantly contributed to a decline in AIDS cases before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic
During the pandemic, AIDS cases surged due to inaction, but renewed efforts, guided by the King's advice, led to significant reductions.
The delegation, including Hon. Robert Sserwanga Saalongo, Minister for Youth, Sports, and Arts, and Hon. Josephine Nantege, the permanent secretary, aimed to share their success and inspire African leaders to leverage traditional leadership in AIDS prevention.
Buganda's leadership, through the Katikkiro, demonstrates the impactful role traditional leaders can play in combating AIDS, fostering a collaborative approach to tackle the global health challenge.
