Kings' ministers and religious leaders launched the blood donation campaign in the provinces
The king urged his people to join the blood donation campaign in the provinces.
The king's message was read out by the Minister of Human Development and Health, Hon. Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko, at the preparatory ceremony for the resumption of blood donation held at the Bulange this morning.
The King said;
"We are very grateful to the Uganda Red Cross and Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, for their good cooperation with the Kabaka Foundation in the blood collection programme.
As the Kingdom, through the Kabaka Foundation we decided to join the Central Government to fight the shortage of blood in hospitals.
We encourage our people to donate blood to save the 18 women who die every day in childbirth as well as those who have been involved in accidents, and people with rheumatoid arthritis.
We would like to thank the agencies that have come to support this initiative and we encourage other agencies to support this initiative so that we can eliminate the blood shortage in our country"
The priest of Kampala, Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere, has urged the youth to participate in this campaign because their blood is still strong, and he has thanked those who have donated because they have volunteered.
The Attorney General, Oweek Christopher Bwanika, thanked the Royal Family for participating in the blood donation drive and setting an example for others.
Mr. Bwanika outlined the costs required to revive the blood donation campaign, including, transportation, mobilization, accommodation, food, and the like.
At the same occasion, members of the different agencies have vowed to support the campaign this time.
