Prince Kassim Nakibinge led the royal ministers in commemorating the day
On May 24th, 1966, the palace was attacked by the Uganda army with the aim of harming King Muteesa II. Today marks 58 years since that event, and Muslims organised prayers for the Kingdom to commemorate the day.
At Kibuli Mosque, there was a prayer for Buganda and King Ronald Mutebi II. May God continue to protect and grant him good health during his reign.
Oweek. Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, the First Deputy Katikkiro, read out Katikkiro's message after the Juma prayer.
Here Prayers were going on
In his message, Katikkiro said, "The Kingdom was restored, and the times of mourning ceased. We must fight to restore and strengthen Buganda's dignity.
He continued to request the government to return what is left of Buganda’s properties, because they were robbed, and it is an act of justice to return them to their rightful owners.
The looted properties include provincial and county buildings, land, and other assets. Over the past 58 years, most of these properties have been returned. Now, the Kingdom is asking for the remainder to be returned as well.
