Funeral service for the late Dr. Joy Kyazike Kyeyune which was held in Kentish Town UK

Tribute to The Late Dr Joy Kyazike Kyeyune from the Office of Kabaka’s representative in the UK and Ireland

On behalf of Buganda, the executive committee of Kabaka’s representative in the UK and Ireland and the entire Buganda UK community, I convey sympathy to Dr. Joy Kyazike Kyeyune’s family and friends, and to the Buganda UK Community. We mourn the passing of a great community activist and friend of many but also celebrate her achievements in her life’s journey as we say farewell to Dr. Joy Kyazike Kyeyune.

Dr. Joy Kyazike was at the time of her passing, a member of the Executive Committee of Kabaka’s representative UK & Ireland, serving as the Mukungu in Charge of Health Affairs, a post she has held for over 8 years.

Dr. Kyazike’s services to the Buganda UK community commenced in 2007, as one of the founder members and treasurer of a UK-based Baganda youth think-tank, SAAGALA AGALAMIDDE.

She then served as treasurer for the Ettofaali UK project where she successfully handled the £28,315(UGX 120M) handed to Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga in August 2014.

Dr Kyazike’s next appointment was on the 25th of July 2016, as a member without a portfolio on the executive committee of Kabaka’s representative UK and Ireland under the leadership of Ow’ekitiibwa Ronald Lutaaya. She was assigned to the Office of Health Affairs. Dr Kyazike led the organising committee of the first ever UK Kabaka’s Birthday Run (2019), which raised an impressive UGX5.8M towards the 2019 theme, Sickle Cell awareness. She also facilitated discussions to encourage the uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine within our community. Dr Kyazike held her office on the omubaka’s executive committee until her passing.

We appreciate Dr Joy Kyazike for her selflessness in serving her community Buganda UK, for allowing us to benefit from her medical knowledge, for exhibiting an impressive transparency ethic when handling the Kingdom’s finances, for committing her time and money towards delivering services to the people in our community, for mobilising her family, friends and associates towards participating in community events, for being extraordinary. We appreciate her passion for our Kingdom.

We say final thank you, Dr Joy Kyazike Kyeyune, for the demonstration of service above self.

May God grant you eternal peace.

Gutusinze nnyo ayi Beene.

Ow’ek. Saalongo Geoffrey Kibuuka
